Kevin Collier’s passion for automobiles began in Orange County, Florida, where his family owned an auto parts business. Rather than spending summers at the beach, Kevin often found himself visiting garages and selling parts on consignment. His brother’s work at Ultimate Motorworks in Longwood further fueled his enthusiasm, occasionally bringing home some remarkable cars. One lasting memory was seeing a 1971 Ferrari being restored at a friend’s shop. Kevin was fascinated to discover that it shared the same door handles as his own 1979 Fiat Spider. Photography has been a lifelong passion. From documenting trips with the Florida State University Marching Chiefs to photographing Leu Gardens, Kevin rarely passed up an opportunity to get behind a camera. But it was a visit to the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1996, while working as a band director at Sebring High School, that brought his interests together. Having grown up watching Daytona, Sebring, and Le Mans on television, experiencing endurance racing in person was something entirely different. The sights, sounds, and atmosphere gave him what he describes as near-constant “frisson.” He was hooked, returning to Sebring and other track events whenever he could, sometimes bringing his children along for an impromptu afternoon of photography at Turn 5. To this day you might see Kevin in town, putting up event posters prior to the 12 Hour race.  In 2020, a chance inquiry to Jim Pomeroy of Chin Track Days led Kevin to Tom Murray and Lyndon Fox of MotorImages.com. Invited to attend an event, Kevin received an introduction to the world of professional trackside photography from Tom Murray, who showed him the circuit’s photography roads, shooting locations, and daily workflow. What Kevin thought would be a one-time opportunity became a lasting association. With encouragement and guidance from Tom and Lyndon, he developed his skills and was eventually invited to join the MotorImages team. A father of four, Kevin continues to combine his love of photography with a lifelong fascination for motorsport. He now brings that experience, enthusiasm, and photographer’s eye to The Motorsport Diaries, where he continues to capture the personalities, stories, and unforgettable moments that make racing so special.
